My first SOI expedition as the photographer! This was a beautiful circumnavigation of Unamak'i (Cape Breton), with a journey out to mystical Sable Island.
For this two-week expedition, participants were engaged in Etuaptmumk, or two-eyed seeing. Ocean knowledge and conservation were important themes for this expedition, with visits to centres like COVE in Halifax, multiple days on Sable Island to provide a hands-on experience for students to engage in scientific research, and trips to communities like Eskasoni to demonstrate cultural perspective on sustainable practices.
